A decommissioned Airbus A320 is being given a new lease of life in the service of science. The Hydrogen Aviation Lab, Hamburg's new field laboratory for testing maintenance and ground processes for future hydrogen-powered aircraft, was unveiled today.

Air Canada orders 15 more A220s for a total of 60 aircraft


Air Canada has confirmed an order for 15 more A220-300, bringing the Canadian flag carrier's total firm order from an initial 45 to 60 aircraft. The airline started its A220 service in January 2020 and currently operates over 30 A220s on transcontinental routes in Canada, as well as to the U.S. and to Latin America.


Boeing selects Honeywell’s APU for the B-52

The B-52H bomber will no longer require an external cart nor gunpowder cartridges for starting up its engines in future. Boeing is said to have selected Honeywell's 36-150 auxiliary power unit (APU) as part of the Commercial Engine Replacement Program.

Competitive Aussies should ‘lead world’ on SAFs, says Joyce

Spain to bolster NATO's eastern flank with 14 jets


Spain on Saturday said it would send 14 fighter jets to Bulgaria and Romania to bolster NATO's eastern flank as the defence alliance strengthens its deterrence capacity following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Madrid will send six Eurofighter jets and 130 soldiers to Bulgaria between mid-November and early December to train local forces, the Spanish defence ministry

Military Sukhoi Su-34 crashes into apartment building in Yeysk, Russia

 On 17 October, a Russian Sukhoi Su-34 fighter jet crashed into an apartment building in the city of Yeysk, Russia. The crew was able to escape from the aircraft before the impact, Russian media report according to eyewitnesses

On a PA31T1 equipped with the P&W PT6A-135A turbines, the World's first 11-bladed propeller took the sky with an impressive noise and sound signature.
The very promising results in static thrust, 15% increase over the standard certified 5-bladed propeller, and the jet-noise signature showed another time what could be possible in the propeller developments.

This propeller system combined with a low rpm power supply from a turbine or an electric engine opens new possibilities for performance, efficiency and noise.
