We wanted you to be among the first to know... As a friend of Zunum Aero, we wanted you to be among the first to know that this morning, we unveiled details of our first aircraft -- the first in a family of breakthrough regional hybrid-to-electrics -- designed for up to 12 passengers with range of 700 miles, available for delivery in 2022. By scaling airliner-grade economics to mid-sized platforms, design for quiet, green and fast door-to-door service to tens of thousands of secondary airports, our aircraft will usher in a new era of fast and affordable regional travel. Further details (and a video simulation!) on our range-optimized aircraft can be found on our website. Notable features include: - Direct costs per seat mile of 8 cents, or $250 per hour for the aircraft
- Maximum cruise speed of 340 miles per hour
- Take-off distance of 2,200 feet
- 80% lower emissions and noise
This is a first step toward our vision of bringing fast, affordable regional travel to thousands of communities, transforming the way we live and work: a world where destinations in DC are just 2.5 hours away from the Boston area, rather than twice as long today, at fares a third below commercial; or where the slopes at Whistler are within 2 hours of the Seattle area, versus nearly 7 hours away today. We are also announcing the opening of a second development center in the Chicagoland area, where we are developing our electric propulsion technologies and starting ground tests. Our world-class technologists come with experience from United Technologies, Rolls Royce, GE and Safran with expertise in power electronics, electric motors and advanced propulsors developed on the most advanced aircraft in the skies today. Take a look at our current openings, and if you feel that you're a fit, we'd love to hear from you. We will continue to challenge conventional wisdom and break new ground in our quest for quiet high-speed mobility that puts aviation on path to eliminate emissions over short-haul stages (roughly 50% of all commercial aviation emissions). Wishing you clear skies, Ashish Kumar CEO | | | |
