This year, the Singapore Air Show opens with ominous clouds overhead. Ongoing conflict in the Middle East that threatens to spiral out of control, tensions in Asia-Pacific over maritime claims and an economic slowdown and the threat of another financial crash makes for a jittery outlook. Yet in previous years, whether it be SARS, 9/11, high oil prices, aviation (particularly in civil) has always bounced back and resumed its upward trajectory and growth.
