HAL To Build New Facility In India For Light Helicopters

BENGALURU, India—India's state-owned airframer Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL) will soon establish a new facility to make military and civilian helicopters for the Indian and global markets.

"We have acquired land near Tumakuru (in the southern Indian state of Karnataka) to build a factory that could manufacture Light Utility Helicopters (LUH) in the 3-ton class for which there is a huge potential demand in the domestic and international markets," HAL chairman T. Suvarna Raju said on the sidelines of the ongoing Aero India 2015 here.
