The Clean Sky Joint Undertaking is delighted to announce the official launch of the first Call for Core Partners as part of the recently approved Clean Sky 2 programme. The launch was marked by an event hosted by the European Commission and attended by President Barosso and Commissioners Máire Geoghegan-Quinn (DG Research), Neelie Kroes (DG CONNECT), and Siim Kallas (DG MOVE). To coincide with the launch, the Clean Sky 2 section of the website has been given a full revamp.

The Council of the European Union agreed to extend the Clean Sky Joint Technology Initiative (JTI) within the EU Horizon 2020 Framework Programme at its meeting yesterday. Clean Sky 2 will involve investing nearly €4 bn in breakthrough aviation technology research. By endorsing Clean Sky 2 the Council of the European Union has given the green light to the next generation of innovative aircraft which will deliver on the challenges faced in mobility, environment and competitiveness.
