Varios cientos de estos componentes del Airbus A350 XWB son producidos en un 70% menos de tiempo y con un coste de fabricación un 80% más barato.
Peter Sander, manager Emerging Technologies and Concepts, Airbus:
"Esta es una parte muy interesante porque estamos hablando del sistema de combustible, dos tubos en uno, antes era el resultado de soldar diez partes diferentes. Así, con la impresión en 3D podemos integrar el soporte de la tubería y los dos tubos en una sola pieza e imprimirla. Así que, en este caso, hemos reducido el peso, pero lo más interesante es que hemos abaratando el proceso hasta en 30% ".
