US-Europe alliance confirmed for Orion manned craft

NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA) have put more detail on their agreement for ESA to build the service module for NASA's Orion crew exploration vehiicle. The €450 deal involves ESA using heritage ATV hardware to construct the service module that will allow crew to travel to and from cis-lunar space. This will be part of a barter arrangement in which its fees ESA owned NASA for ESA's use of the International Space Station will be waived.
