The Pentagon and Air Force have yet to set a date for awarding a multibillion-dollar aerial refueling tanker contract, but a decision is expected “this fall,” says the Pentagon’s top arms buyer.

The latest try at buying new Air Force aerial tankers “will be done when it’s done,” Defense Department purchasing chief Ashton Carter said a conference here Wednesday.
