The USA's C-130E/H fleet suffers from 2 key problems: (1) many aircraft, especially Air National Guard planes, aren't flyable, or won't remain so much longer; and (2) their avionics are too old to meet modern standards for flight in civil airspace. The 1st problem is being addressed by major structural rework, inspections, and groundings. The 2nd problem was supposed to be addressed by the C-130 AMP program, begun in 2001 in order to improve aircraft fight-readiness, flight times, flexibility, and fuel use. Se inauguró la remodelación de la Base Antártica Gabriel de Castilla,
situada en la isla Decepción y ha conmemorado el vigésimo aniversario

con 1,1 millones de euros, incluidos los gastos de transporte de
equipos y materiales necesarios, mientras que el Ejército de Tierra ha
aportado la redacción del proyecto, la dirección técnica, el nuevo
módulo y el personal necesario para su montaje con los costes
asociados. Está considerada como una Instalación Científica y
Tecnológica Singular (ICTS) y acoge las diferentes campañas de
investigación en el marco del Plan Nacional de I+D+i de ese por el

Como todos los años, desde Sandglass Patrol/Noticias Aero queremos
desear a todos nuestros lectores y amigos unas Felices Fiestas. En
otras ocasiones hemos recurrido a postales clásicas, de las que
facilitaban a los soldados para mandar a casa. Este año hemos optado
por crearla en exclusiva para vosotros...

Aproximadamente en Enero, año tras año, iniciamos un viaje que
esperamos que sea de 'sol y moscas', en un viaje no exento de
turbulencias, zozobras, alegrías, vientos en contra y buenas rachas,
aterrizajes forzosos y tomas en alternativos, así como inseparables
compañeros de vuelo y bellos paisajes.

Invariablemente el viaje, vuelo tras vuelo, nos trae de vuelta a casa,
junto a los nuestros, para pasar unas fechas especiales, por lo
religioso para unos, por lo mágico para otros, o por lo poco que les
gusta al resto... pero especiales al fin y al cabo para todos, porque
nos permiten volver a amigos y parientes a los que apenas vemos de
otro modo... o por las vacaciones. En cualquier caso, sea como sea,

Boeing Statement on Congressional Letter Regarding Airbus Subsidies

Cessna Delivers First Skycatcher

WICHITA, Kan., Dec. 18, 2009 - Cessna Aircraft Company, a Textron Inc.
(NYSE: TXT) company, today delivered its first Model 162 Skycatcher
Light Sport Aircraft during a ceremony at Yingling Aircraft in
Wichita, Kan. Yingling is one of three U.S. re-assembly facilities for
the Skycatcher.

As previously announced, Rose Pelton, wife of Cessna Chairman,
President and CEO Jack J. Pelton, received the first Skycatcher.

The Model 162 Skycatcher is a two-place, single-engine piston,
high-wing aircraft in the Light Sport Aircraft category, defined in
the United States as an aircraft with a maximum gross weight of 1,320
pounds and with a top speed of no more than 120 knots.

The 162 is powered by a Continental O-200D 100-hp air-cooled engine
and a fixed-pitch propeller. The aircraft will cruise at speeds up to
118 knots and will have a maximum range of 470 nautical miles. The
Cessna 162 Skycatcher features a Garmin G300 avionics system.
Information is presented in a single, split-screen primary flight
display (PFD) and multi-function display (MFD), or as two full-screen
displays with an optional second screen. The Skycatcher will be
capable of Visual Flight Rules/Day/Night operations.

Cessna, in association with King Schools, has also developed a new
Web-based training system for sport and private pilot certificates
that will be available through the Cessna Pilot Center network of
flight schools.

Cessna launched its Skycatcher program at AirVenture Oshkosh in 2007
and has since amassed more than 1,000 orders.
