Oct. 15 (Bloomberg) -- South Africa may cancel an order to buy eight
Airbus A400 military transport aircraft, after the cost soared to 47
billion rand ($6.5 billion) from 17 billion rand, the head of the
government's arms procurement agency said.
It needs to be decided "whether the state is to absorb this huge
increase," Armscor Ltd. Chief Executive Officer Sipho Thomo told
parliament's defense committee in Cape Town yesterday. "If it is not,
then the cabinet will terminate the project."
